Federal Occupational Health & Safety Administration and Environmental Protection Agency regulations require that all personnel responding to potential hazardous materials incidents be trained in the Incident Command System (ICS) and Hazardous Materials recognition.
New Hampshire has designated the following programs as meeting the above federal requirements: National Fire Academy 16-hour ICS course NH Fire Standards & Training (NHFST) Hazardous Materials Operations 24-hour course.
NHFST has been designated as the lead instructional agency for the above programs for fire/EMS/law enforcement/public works personnel.
For Nationally Registered EMT’s, ICS and Hazardous Materials training can be utilized for reregistration continuing education hours.
