Welcome!

Welcome to New Hampshire’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) website. As Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, I oversee the function as part of the Office of the Commissioner and have a direct line reporting authority to the Governor of New Hampshire. I serve as the state's primary contact with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

HSEM is charged with overseeing the state-level planning, preparation, response to, recovery from and mitigation of all emergencies and disasters. This includes natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and severe winter storms, and human-caused disasters, such as nuclear power plant accidents or chemical spills.

It is truly an honor and privilege to be the first female Director of HSEM. I proudly stand ready with the dedicated team at HSEM to work collaboratively with our local, state and federal partners to further the State's prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation efforts. Together, we all play an important role in the safety and security of New Hampshire's citizens and visitors.

Three things you can do to prepare for emergencies. First, make an emergency kit. Second, have a family emergency plan. Third, sign up for NH Alerts to stay informed. Having what you need and knowing what to do, to stay safe is the best way to prepare for emergencies. Learn more at ReadyNH.gov.

We hope you will find this site interesting and informative, and hope it will assist you in protecting yourself and your loved ones in the event of an emergency.
