Greg Gathers’ 42-year career with Pontine Theatre in Portsmouth represents his unique multi-disciplinary talent. Pontine has brought more than 50 original plays researched, developed, and performed by Greg and Co-Artistic Director and Pontine Founder Marguerite Mathews to over 100 small towns, museums, libraries, schools and retirement homes throughout New Hampshire and New England.
Greg, a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art, has played an incredible creative role at Pontine via his craftsmanship and design as well. It is his visual art, including stage design, projected visuals, costumes, toy theatre elements and cast of puppets made and designed by Greg, that has allowed Pontine to bring their small stages to such wide audiences. Greg’s technical and visual art talents have complemented his and Marguerite’s theatrical and literary skills to create many fully realized productions that are uniquely expressive of New Hampshire and New England aesthetics.
