BENEVOLENT ASSOCIATION

The Benevolent Association is made up of sworn, civilian and retired members of the State Police. Currently, we have over 600 members, including active and retired members. The Benevolent Association is not a union and does not get involved in contractual issues or benefits and is solely limited to the areas outlined under benefits and the Bylaws of the Association.

The Association was formed in 1961 with 98 members with the primary purpose of providing financial support to its members. A Constitution and Bylaws Booklet was prepared, officers elected and dues collected.

Over the years, members have been financially aided in times of hardship such as medical expenses, fire losses and other types of need.

Officers consist of President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer and one Director and an Alternate Director from each Troop, Headquarters Civilian, Headquarters Law Enforcement, Investigative Services Bureau and Retired Members. Officers are elected in April every other year.

An annual meeting is held in May and a semi-annual meeting held in November. Throughout the rest of the year, meetings are held quarterly.

Special meetings may be called by the President at any time throughout the year.
