NH Supreme Court affirms that MacDowell Colony meets test of being a “charitable organization”
Ruling preserves property’s tax exempt status

At 9 AM on March 14, 2008, New Hampshire’s Supreme Court ruled in the ongoing dispute between the Town of Peterborough and the MacDowell Colony in which the Town challenged the tax exempt status of the 100-year-old artist colony.
