New Hampshire Folk Heritage Award
created by Blacksmith Garry Kalajian of Concord

Garry Kalajian opened Ararat Forge in 1993 and began blacksmithing full time after a career in youth development. Kalajian has been a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen since 1995. In 1996 he apprenticed with blacksmith David Court, a Master Artist for the NH State Council on the Arts Traditional Arts Apprenticeship program. Kalajian specializes in reproducing 17th and 18th century hardware and home accessories using traditional tools and techniques. He is also a member of the League's Gallery 205 and Standards Committees, and has been a demonstrator at the group's annual fair at Mount Sunapee, New Hampshire.
