Motor Vehicle Accident, Route 16 Milton, NH

On September 13, 2020, at approximately 1440 hours, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop A barracks responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle crash along Route 16 South in Milton. It was reported that the lone-involved vehicle had rolled-over and was engulfed in flames.

Preliminary investigation reveals that a 2008 Subaru Legacy, driven by Patrick Shannon, age 50, of Ossipee, NH was traveling southbound on Route 16. While trying to change lanes, Shannon lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway along the right shoulder. After over-correcting, the vehicle swerved back into the roadway and rolled several times. Shannon was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries. It is believed that he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of this event.

Route 16 was closed in both directions for approximately 45 minutes while emergency personnel tended to Shannon and extinguished the vehicle fire. Several agencies worked toward this, to include the Wakefield Police Department, Farmington Police Department, Milton Police Department, Rochester Fire and Rescue, as well as the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

This accident remains under investigation by Trooper Jonathan Minnich. Anyone with information pertaining to this collision is asked to contact Trooper Minnich, via email, at
