Labor Day Weekend C.A.R.E. Weekend, Statewide

As Labor Day weekend approaches, summer is nearing the end. Colonel Nathan Noyes, along with the men and women of the New Hampshire State Police hope that the citizens of New Hampshire and those visiting our great state enjoy themselves, and drive and boat safely this holiday weekend.

The New Hampshire State Police, to include Marine Patrol, will be out in full force with extra patrols during this holiday weekend to ensure the roadways and waterways in New Hampshire are kept safe. We will be focusing our enforcement efforts on distracted driving, excessive speed, impaired driving, as well as concerted efforts on rafting violations and impaired boating. While we encourage all to enjoy the last few weeks of summer, we ask that you do it safely. We have zero tolerance for driving and boating while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Always remember to drink responsibly and have a designated driver or utilize safe transportation to your destination along the roadways and waterways.

Please allow for plenty of time when traveling in order to keep your speeds reduced and safe distances between you and the vehicle ahead. Adherence to NH RSA 265:25 Following Too Closely can greatly reduce the number of collisions seen during this holiday weekend. Keeping your attention on the roads at all times is essential. One slight distraction can lead to fatal consequences. Please wear your seatbelt and drive responsibly.

While on the waterways, please ensure you follow the New Hampshire's rafting laws and regulations. Remain safe while boating and swimming, and remember to wear your life jacket.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring the safety of those traveling throughout our state on both our roadways and waterways. We ask you to help keep our great state safe by making a mindful effort to do your part in striving towards this mission.

Have a happy and safe holiday weekend.
