booking photo Timothy W. Smith
At approximately 10:15 hours on Wednesday September 2, 2020, Sgt. Christopher Storm, of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was on Indian Brook Drive in the City of Dover when he noticed a black 2007 Chrysler Aspen driving recklessly through the intersection at Indian Brook Drive and Route 108. Sgt. Storm attempted to stop the vehicle which refused to stop for Sgt. Storm. The vehicle reached speeds in excess of 80mph on Route 108. While doing so the driver of the vehicle also failed to yield to an ambulance that was transporting a patient. Due to the danger, Sgt. Storm did not pursue the vehicle.

The Somersworth Police Department, with no knowledge that this vehicle had already fled from the police, attempted to stop the vehicle on Route 108. The vehicle then turned in to Reagan Estates and pulled behind a residence at 12 Dudley Court, where the three occupants fled from the vehicle. It was quickly learned that this same vehicle and occupants had just fled from the Dover Police Department after the Dover Police Department had attempted to stop the vehicle on Central Ave. in Dover. The two passengers were quickly apprehended by the New Hampshire State Police and the Somersworth Police Department. After a joint investigation by the New Hampshire State Police, Somersworth Police Department and Dover Police Department it was determined that the driver of the vehicle was,

Timothy W. Smith

Upon returning to the residence in which the vehicle was behind. It was determined that the residence at 12 Dudley Court, Somersworth, NH, was Mr. Smith's mother's residence. Information was gathered and officials learned that Mr. Smith was within the residence hiding in the ceiling of 12 Dudley Court. After a short stand-off Mr. Smith removed himself from the ceiling and came out peacefully. Mr. Smith surrendered to police without incident.

Mr. Smith refused bail and is currently being held at the Strafford County Jail awaiting his arraignment. Mr. Smith is being charged by the New Hampshire State Police with the following: Reckless conduct, disobeying a police officer, resisting arrest, operating after Suspension and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle. Mr. Smith is due to appear in the Strafford Superior Court to answer to these charges on September 3, 2020. Further charges are anticipated by the Somersworth and Dover Police Departments related to this incident.

Members of the New Hampshire State Police Mobile Enforcement Team, New Hampshire State Police K-9 Unit, New Hampshire State Police Troop-A, Troop G, The Somersworth Police Department, The Dover Police Department, Somersworth Fire Department and Stewarts Ambulance Service assisted on scene.
