Shooting Investigation, Columbia, NH

On Sunday March 29th, at approximately 12:19 am, a Colebrook Police Officer requested State Police assistance at Upper Connecticut Valley Hospital in Colebrook for a male subject that had been brought into the emergency department with a gunshot wound to a lower extremity.

Troopers from New Hampshire State Police, Troop F and Agents from the United States Border Patrol responded to assist. Upon arrival at the hospital the male victim was identified as:

Tyler Rancloes
Age: 25
Columbia NH

It was determined through the initial investigation that Mr. Rancloes was at a small gathering in Columbia with several other people when the incident occurred. It is believed that the injuries to Mr. Rancloes are the direct result of an unintentional discharge of an un-holstered firearm that had been located in the rear waistband of Mr. Rancloes' pants.
Although his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening, Mr. Rancloes was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center by 45th Parallel EMS for treatment of those injuries.

The investigation is currently ongoing to determine if circumstances surrounding the unintentional discharge warrant criminal charges. Anyone with any information about the accident is encouraged to contact Trooper Tyler Brennan NH State Police Troop F at (603) 846-3333 or
