On January 30, 2020, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the New Hampshire State Police – Troop D was notified of a multi-vehicle collision on I-93 north, just north of Exit 16.

Upon arrival of troopers at the scene, they learned that three vehicles were involved with extensive damage. The vehicles were non-movable and blocking all lanes of travel so the highway had to be shut down at Exit 16 for over an hour until they could be moved out of the way.

Initial investigation indicated that northbound traffic was stopped due to traffic congestion from tree clearing operations by the Department of Transportation near Exit 17. It was during this time that a 2006 Ford dump truck driven by Mr. Scott Marcotte, age 27, of Tilton, NH, struck the rear of a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado towing a 12' U-Haul trailer. The resultant impact forced the Silverado into the rear of a 2017 Fed Ex box truck.

Two people were transported to the Concord Hospital for suspected minor injuries. Mr. Marcotte was given a summons for Following to Closely.
One lane of travel was cleared after an hour and all lanes were fully open over 2 hours after the crash.

New Hampshire State Police – Troop D was assisted at the scene by the New Hampshire State Police – Troop G, Merrimack County Sheriffs Department, Concord Fire-Rescue and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

This incident is being investigated by Trooper Matthew Gagnon. Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Gagnon, New Hampshire State Police – Troop D, at 603-223-4381.
