During the hours of 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2019 through 3:00 a.m., Saturday, September 7, 2019, New Hampshire State Troopers from Troop B in Bedford and officers of the Bedford Police Department conducted a sobriety checkpoint on Route 101 in Bedford.
The checkpoint was authorized by an order of the Hillsborough Superior Court and conducted under guidelines promulgated by the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office.
A total of 267 vehicles and operators were screened, with 12 drivers being run through Field Sobriety Tests. Of those tested, 3 people were arrested:
- Joseph Wilhelmi, 27 of Goffstown NH was arrested for DWI 1st.
- Grace Alati, 28 of Goffstown NH was arrested for DWI Subsequent Offense.
- Michael Dunn 56, of Bennington NH was arrested for DWI 1st.
The New Hampshire State Police, Colonel Chris Wagner and Chief John Bryfonski of the Bedford Police Department and the officers of their departments consider the detection and apprehension of impaired drivers to be a top priority. They will continue to collaborate and utilize sobriety checkpoints and other means to deter, detect and remove impaired drivers from New Hampshire's roadways.
