Saturation Enforcement for Commercial Motor Vehicles

On August 1, 2019, members of New Hampshire State Police – Troop G conducted commercial motor vehicle enforcement in numerous towns and cities, covering state and local roads, throughout The State of New Hampshire.  In order to reduce traffic collisions involving commercial motor vehicles, Troopers from Troop G specifically focused their enforcement efforts on ensuring that commercial motor vehicles were in safe mechanical operating condition, drivers were compliant with hours of service, and drivers had obtained proper licensing credentials.

Members of Troop G are highly skilled Troopers who have received specialized training to conduct roadside inspections of commercial motor vehicles.  During the daylong event, Troopers inspected 87 commercial motor vehicles and discovered 212 violations.  Of those violations, 43 were so severe that they created a condition where the vehicle or its driver was placed out of service.

A logging truck that was stopped in Canterbury back on July 17, 2019, that weighed 151,900 pounds at the time, was stopped again in Plymouth during this enforcement initiative. This time the vehicle combination weighed 150,000 pounds when it was stopped on Route 25 in Plymouth, exceeding its legally allowed maximum weight of 99,000 pounds.

In Merrimack, on the F.E. Everett Turnpike, Troopers stopped pickup truck pulling a car carrier trailer. The Trooper found through his inspection that the driver, out of Rhode Island, had a suspended driver's license.

On Route 28 in Salem several Troopers, from Troop G, responded to a multi-vehicle crash involving a dump truck, a pickup truck, and school bus that was being used to transport young children from Massachusetts to a bowling alley in Salem for a field trip. Troopers weighed and inspected the dump truck and conducted an inspection on the school bus to assist The Salem Police Department in their investigation of the incident.
