On Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at approximately 01:30 a.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A responded to Route 101 in the Town of Exeter for a medical emergency. When Troopers arrived on scene it was discovered that an employee of AnnSeal Incorporated which was performing pavement crack sealing along Route 101 had been electrocuted. The injured employee was identified as Kirt ALEXANDER, age 27, of Endicott, New York.

Further investigation revealed that the company vehicle that ALEXANDER was standing beside had struck overhead powerlines with a portable light tower it had as part of its cargo. ALEXANDER was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and later flown to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment of his critical injuries.

A portion of Route 101 East in the vicinity of Exit 11 was closed for approximately 3 hours following this incident for the investigation and restoration of electrical power.

The New Hampshire State Police Troop-A were assisted at the scene by the Exeter Police Department, Exeter Fire Department, and Unitil Corporation.
