On July 3, 2019 at approximately 11:08 A.M., the New Hampshire State Police, Troop D, responded to I-93 north in in New Hampton near mile marker 67.2 for a report of a crash and fire involving two tractor trailer units. Upon arrival, State Police found two tractor trailers fully engulfed in fire. The roadway had to be shut down for close to 1 ½ hours. Traffic was diverted off I-93 at Exit 22 during this time.

On scene investigation revealed that one of the tractor trailers had broken down and was parked in the right breakdown lane of interstate. Another tractor trailer driven by Mr. Andre Cassidy, age 61 of Windsor Quebec, was driving north in a 2017 International owned by Division TM Transport of Thetford Mines, Quebec. Mr. Cassidy sneezed and veered across the fog line, striking the disabled truck. A large fire ensued as a result of the impact.

Both trailers were empty at the time and only one person sustained minor injuries. The travel lane remained shut down for several hours until the vehicles could be removed from the scene. Mr. Cassidy was cited for crossing a solid line.

The State police were assisted at the scene by The New Hampton and Sanbornton Police, New Hampton, Sanbornton and Franklin fire departments, the NH DOT and DES.
