Tractor Trailer vs. car crash, F.E. Everett Tpk. South, Nashua

photo of both vehicles involved in crash

In the early morning hours of Tuesday 2 July, 2019, at approximately 00:30hrs, Troopers from the Troop B barracks in Bedford, Troop G, Nashua Fire and the Department of Environmental Services responded to a crash involving a Tractor Trailer and a passenger vehicle in Nashua. The crash occurred on the Everett Turnpike Southbound at mile marker 5.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the Tractor Trailer Unit, driven by operator;

Carlos Hanson
53 years old
Union City NJ

Sustained a catastrophic mechanical malfunction that caused it to come to an abrupt, emergency stop while still blocking the right 2 travel lanes. The mechanical malfunction jarred loose a portion of the drive shaft which broke a fuel line and subsequently struck Vehicle 2 which was operated by;

Sean Kelley
35 years old
Lowell Mass

Both vehicles came to a stop in the right 2 travel lanes and the Tractor Trailer spilled approximately 20 gallons of fuel on the road. There were no injuries sustained in the crash and the spill was contained by the Nashua Fire department and evaluated by the department of Environmental Services.

The right 2 travel lanes remained closed for approximately 3 hours while the Tractor Trailer was removed and the spill was cleaned up. Troopers from Troop G are following up with the investigation.
