DWI Saturation Patrol, Greater Weirs Beach-Laconia, NH Area

With the elevated number of motorists and visitors in the Lakes Region due to the annual Motorcycle Week Event, the New Hampshire State Police conducted a directed enforcement effort in the greater Weirs Beach, New Hampshire area. The enforcement effort focused on dangerous driving with an emphasis on impaired driving in an effort to keep area roadways safe and was conducted from 9:00p.m., Saturday, June 8, 2019 through 3:00a.m., Sunday, June 9, 2019. There were five troopers assigned to this directed initiative. As a result of their efforts, troopers stopped 66 motor vehicles and issued 6-citations and 24-warnings for Speed; 4-warnings for Failing to Obey Traffic Sign/Signal; 26-Defective Equipment tags; 2-citations and 3-warnings for "other" offenses. There was also one arrest made for driving under the influence.

Paul McGrail age 59, Manchester, NH, was arrested and released and will be required to appear before the Laconia Circuit Court on July 11, 2019. During this time there were no serious traffic related incidents or events in the area which is undoubtedly attributed to the extra enforcement efforts and presence in the area. The New Hampshire State Police would like to thank you for being responsible when it comes to driving safely and always use a sober driver.
