Motor vehicle pursuit, Route 16, Dover, NH

On Saturday, May 25, 2019 at approximately 3:00 a.m., Trooper Matthew Bailey from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A was monitoring traffic on Route 16 in the City of Dover. While in the vicinity of Exit #9, he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and verified that it was traveling at 86 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Trooper Bailey initiated a traffic stop on this vehicle, which was identified as a 2014 KIA Forte. As he approached this vehicle to speak with the driver, the vehicle sped off. A pursuit was initiated and the vehicle continued northbound on Route 16 into the City of Rochester. This vehicle exited the highway at Exit #11 and continued onto Old Dover Road. At this point the decision was made to terminate the pursuit. Immediately after the pursuit was terminated, the driver encountered a dead end near Old Dover Road's intersection with Route 125. The operator immediately exited his vehicle and laid down on the ground to surrender himself. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver was identified as Michael MCNAMARA, age 30 of Dover, NH. He is being charged with Aggravated DWI, Reckless Operation, and Disobeying an Officer. He is scheduled to appear in the 7th Circuit- District Division- Rochester Court on June 12, 2019 for his arraignment.

The New Hampshire State Police Troop-A were assisted by the Rochester Police Department during this incident.
