New Memorial Highway Signs, Colebrook, New Hampshire

On August 19, 1997, Troopers Scott E. Phillips and Leslie G. Lord were tragically killed in the line of duty by a senseless act of violence while protecting and serving the citizens of the Great North Woods.

A short time after their deaths, a separate stretch of Route 3 was named in each of their honor for their acts of heroism and dedication to service which was memorialized by a series of signs along Route 3.

For the past 20+ years, the signs have stood tall and proud but have begun to show signs of wear after being exposed to the elements for all that time. With the gracious assistance of the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections and the New Hampshire Trooper's Association, new signs were fabricated and installed, replacing the old worn signs.

The new signs were revealed today around noontime at a small and humble ceremony that included members of the New Hampshire State Police-Troop F, New Hampshire State Police-Troop G, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, Colebrook Police Department, New Hampshire Department of Transportation as well as family and friends at two separate locations along Route 3 in Colebrook in time for National Police Week and the upcoming Memorial Day Holiday.

Thank you to all those that made this possible.

Let us never forget.
