On May 5, 2019 at approximately 2:50 AM Troopers from the NH State Police Troop B Barracks in Bedford were dispatched to the report of a wrong-way driver traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Interstate 293 through the city of Manchester. State Police Dispatchers fielded multiple emergency calls from witnesses who were nearly struck by this vehicle.

The vehicle continued traveling northbound on the wrong side of the highway and eventually entered Interstate 93 and traveled through Hooksett and into Bow. After traveling nearly 15 miles on the wrong-side of the Interstate, Troopers from the NH State Police Troop D Barracks in Concord assisted in locating and stopping this vehicle by getting into position to deploy spike strips, a tire deflation device. Spike strips deflated two of the suspect vehicle's tires which successfully slowed the vehicle down. Troopers were then able to stop the 2014 Volkswagen Passat along Interstate 93 in Bow.

The driver of this vehicle was identified as

Carley Tate (Age 24)
Center Barnstead, NH

Ms. Tate was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Conduct. She was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Merrimack County Superior Court on May 23, 2019 at 1:00PM.

Any additional motorists who witnessed this incident are urged to contact Trooper Matthew Field at Matthew.Field@dos.nh.gov.
