Commercial Vehicle Loses Wheels, Ossipee, New Hampshire

A Commercial Vehicle lost a set of wheels in Ossipee after the wheel studs suffered a mechanical failure

On April 29, 2019, at approximately 6:02 p.m., Troopers from New Hampshire State Police – Troop G were notified by the Ossipee Police Department of a Commercial Vehicle that had lost a set of wheels at the intersection of Route 16 and Route 25 in Center Ossipee. Members of Troop G are highly skilled Troopers who have received specialized training to conduct roadside inspections of commercial motor vehicles.

It was learned that Jhordan Mercedes, of Lawrence, MA, was driving a 2005 Workhorse Utility box truck, operated by Aramark Company, southbound on Route 16 in Ossipee. During the trip, the stud bolts holding a set of dual wheels on the passenger side of the truck became stripped causing two wheels to come off the vehicle. The set of wheels was ultimately located approximately 1,200 feet away from where the truck was stopped. No one was injured and no property was damaged as a result.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the State and want to remind commercial motor vehicle drivers the importance of conducting a proper pre-trip inspection prior to operating.

The New Hampshire State Police – Troop G were assisted by the Ossipee Police Department.
