Motor Vehicle Accident, Interstate 89 North Sutton, NH
On April 10, 2019 at approximately 0020 hours, NHSP Troop D responded to the report of a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 89 North in Sutton , NH. Upon arrival, Trooper Michael Petrillo discovered that a vehicle traveling north had struck the front face of the guardrail, causing the guardrail to break apart and enter into the roadway.
The investigation revealed that a 19 year old male operator of a Nissan Maxima, was traveling too fast for the existing road conditions on the Interstate. Unable to maintain control of his vehicle, he exited the roadway, striking the guardrail. Two other vehicles traveling northbound stuck debris caused from the initial accident. In total, 3 vehicles sustained disabling damage.
All parties were treated and released at the scene, sustaining only minor injuries.
The operator was cited for violations to include, Speeding for Existing Conditons.
The left lane of Interstate 89 was shut down for several hours as the vehicles were removed and NHDOT worked to remove debris and guardrail from the roadway.
