Motor Vehicle Crash, I-93 North at Exit 5, Londonderry

On 03/23/19 at approximately 4:18 P.M. Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop B Barracks in Bedford received simultaneous reports of a motor vehicle rollover on Interstate 93 north near exit 5, and a hit and run accident on the exit 5 onramp to interstate 93 north . As Troopers were responding to the area, additional calls came in advising that a male subject was walking from the crash scene and was waving his hands aggressively at motorists stuck in traffic.

Upon Trooper John Tyo arriving on scene, he confronted the 32 year old male subject from Plainville, Mass that had been walking in the middle of the highway. The male subject refused to comply with all verbal commands and quickly became combative. As Trooper Tyo struggled to place the male subject in custody, several motorists got out of their vehicles to assist. Officers from the Londonderry Police department arrived on scene to assist and shortly thereafter the male subject was placed in handcuffs. The Londonderry Fire Department transported the male subject to Parkland Medical center for further evaluation.

Troopers determined that the operator of the rollover vehicle, 32 year old Raymond Faucher III of Plainville, Massachusetts, entered Interstate 93 Northbound from the Exit 5 on ramp, where he sideswiped one vehicle driven by 48 year old Tannie Grogan of Bedford, New Hampshire. Faucher fled from that scene and continued onto Interstate 93 North, weaving in and out of traffic at which time he struck a vehicle driven by 71 year old Patricia Richardson of Deerfield, NH. Faucher then lost control of his vehicle and side swiped another vehicle which was operated by 48 year old Jeffrey Shaw of Epping, NH. Faucher's vehicle then started to rotate and eventually struck an additional vehicle operated by 48 year old Norman McEllrath of Goffstown, NH. Faucher's vehicle subsequently rolled and came to final rest on its roof in the right lane.

Londonderry Fire and EMS responded to the crash scene and the highway was shut down for approximately 60 minutes while the occupants from the other vehicles involved were evaluated. As a result of this incident McEllrath was transported to the Elliot Hospital for further evaluation and treatment for a possible head injury.

The incident is currently under investigation and anyone with information pertaining to this incident is urged to contact Trooper John Tyo at (603) 223-4381 or by email at
