Motor Vehicle Accident, 293 North, Exit 6, Manchester

On Thursday, March 14th, 2019 at approximately 4:15 p.m., the New Hampshire State Police Troop B received a report of a male subject in a red sedan pulled over on 293 North, just south of exit 6. As Troopers responded to the area, State Police received an additional call on the male subject, stating that he ran onto the roadway and was struck by a Tractor-trailer unit.

Manchester Fire and EMS responded to the scene to render aid to the male subject that was now laying in the middle of the roadway. State Police shut down all lanes of travel, and diverted traffic off exit 5 while the male subject was worked on. He was transported to Catholic Medical Center with serious injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows that for an unknown reason, the male subject ran into the roadway, and was struck by a pick-up truck pulling a commercial trailer. The operator of the pick-up, Mark Furrow, 46, New Britain, Connecticut, stayed on scene and is cooperating with investigators. Troopers from Troop G arrived on scene to conduct an inspection on his commercial vehicle.

The roadway remained shut down for approximately 1 hour while Troopers documented the scene.

Circumstances surrounding this event are still under investigation as it is still unclear at this time why the male subject ran on to the travel portion of the roadway.

Anyone that may have further information related to this accident is asked to contact Trooper Thomas Skafidas at 603-223-4381 or by email at thomas.skafidas@dos.nh.gov.
