On Thursday, January 3rd, 2019 at 0742 hours, Troopers from The New Hampshire State Police, Troop B Barracks in Bedford, and the Troop G Barracks in Concord responded to a report of a jackknifed tractor trailer unit on I-93N in the area just south of Exit 10 in Hooksett. Troopers arrived on scene along with the Hooksett Fire Department and located a jackknifed tractor trailer owned by T&J Express, Inc identified as a 2000 Green Peterbilt, UT Registration Z039607.

The tractor trailer unit was blocking the left breakdown lane and the left two lanes of travel.

Troopers met with the operator, identified as Mark Sywassink, Age 53, North Ogden, Utah, who explained that he was traveling north on Interstate 93, when he lost control on the snow covered roadway. As a result of losing control, the tractor trailer unit slid across the highway, crashed into the left side guardrail and extended out back onto the Interstate blocking the two left lanes. Traffic was able to utilize the right lane to continue past the crash scene.

A female passenger Diane Sywassink, age 53, who was also in the Tractor Trailer Truck at the time of the crash complained of minor back pain and was transported to the Elliot Hospital as a precaution. No one else was injured as a result of this crash. The tractor trailer unit sustained disabling damage was towed from the scene by Duval's Towing.

The operator was found at fault for this crash and was cited for traveling too fast for the existing road conditions.

The New Hampshire State Police were assisted on scene by the Hooksett Fire Department, Department of Transportation and Duval's Towing.

The collision is currently under investigation and anyone with additional information pertaining to this incident is urged to contact Trooper Wagner at (603) 223-4381 or by email at
