Reckless Driving Arrests, 2 Vehicles Clocked at over 105MPH, Interstate 93, Holderness New Hampshire

On Thursday, December 20, 2018, Trooper Christopher Ball of the NH State Police-Troop F, made two separate arrests on Interstate 93 for Reckless Driving within two and a half hours of each other. The drivers of both vehicles were clocked at over 105MPH while travelling to northern New Hampshire to go skiing. Both incidents took place in the same section of the interstate in the town of Holderness.

The first arrest was made just after 10:30a.m. Trooper Ball was observing northbound traffic and observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed. Trooper Ball measured the speed of this vehicle via a LIDAR instrument at 107mph. The posted speed limit on this section of highway is 70mph. Trooper Ball subsequently stopped the speeding vehicle and identified the driver as Michael Leach, Age: 23, Boston, MA.

Leach was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving. He is due to appear in the Plymouth Circuit Court on February 15, 2018.

The second arrest was made at 1:15p.m. in the same area. Trooper Ball was again monitoring traffic on Interstate 93 northbound in the town of Holderness. Trooper Ball observed a vehicle traveling north at an extremely high rate of speed. Trooper Ball again measured the speed of this vehicle via a LIDAR instrument at 111mph. Trooper Ball subsequently stopped the speeding vehicle and identified the driver as Xintong Zhang, Age: 20, Boston, MA.

Zhang was arrested and charged with Reckless Driving. He is also due to appear in the Plymouth Circuit Court on February 15, 2018.

The New Hampshire State Police would like to remind drivers to please slow down and use caution when driving. Speed is one of the main causes of deaths on our roads nationwide every year. With the holiday season upon us, more drivers will be on our roads traveling to see family. Please get there safely. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season.
