Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision, Route 12, Troy
On Wednesday December 19, 2018 at approximately 07:02 am, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop C and officers from the Troy Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Rte. 12 in Troy.
Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2004 Cadillac CTS, driven by Roger Smith, 75, of Keene was traveling southbound on Rte. 12. At the same time, a 2017 GMC Acadia, driven by Emily Walsh, 24, of Troy, was traveling northbound. The vehicles collided head-on. Mr. Smith was found to be deceased at the scene. Ms. Walsh was transported to Cheshire Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. A juvenile passenger in Ms. Walsh's vehicle was transported for evaluation, but was uninjured. Rte. 12 was closed for several hours as a result of this incident.
Due to the serious nature of the collision, members of the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene, and are now leading the investigation.s
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Assisting with the initial response and subsequent investigation was the Cheshire County Sheriff's Office, the Marlborough Police Department, and the Troy Fire Department.
