Rollover Crash/Interstate 89 Lane Closure, Sutton

On Dec 7th , 2018 at approximately 6:58 a.m., Troopers from Troop D, and New London Police Department, responded to Interstate 89 northbound in the area of mile marker 27.2 the Town of Sutton, NH for the report of a rollover motor vehicle crash.

Troopers located a 2004 Chevy Express Van 2500 registered out of Massachusetts, which had rolled over on its side on I89 then came to a final rest off the roadway on the left side median.

The operator was identified to be one John Cruz Aquaiza, age: 46, Milford, MA.

The investigation revealed Aquaiza was traveling northbound on I89 and lost control of the vehicle and veered off the roadway to the left. The vehicle then continued off the roadway where it rotated counterclockwise and rolled onto the passenger side against the wood line, coiming to final rest off the roadway on the left side median.

The Interstate was reduced to one lane of travel for while emergency service personnel from Sutton and New London Fire and Rescue rendered aid and removed the vehicle.

Aquaiza was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with minor injuries. All passengers were transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with serious injuries; the most seriously injured patient was transported via helicopter as a result the Interstate was closed for a short time.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but it appears speed was a factor.
