Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash Blocks Interstate 293, Manchester

On November 15, 2018 at approximately 9:03 a.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B and Troop G Barracks, along with the Manchester Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash along Interstate 293 South Bound near Exit 6 in the city of Manchester.

Preliminary investigation of the collision revealed that a fully loaded 2017 Hino box truck operated by Tommy Rogers, age 33, of Concord, NH was entering a left hand curve as it traveled south when the vehicle began to tip onto its side. The driver attempted to correct the vehicle and was initially able to right the truck, however as the driver attempted to regain control, the box truck rolled over blocking all lanes of the highway. The roadway was blocked for approximately two hours. One lane of traffic was able to pass by the crash scene as it was detoured through the grass. Two passengers in the truck received minor injuries and were not transported to the hospital. All occupants of the vehicle were wearing their seatbelts.

An inspection of the box truck was conducted by members of New Hampshire State Police Troop G. Members of Troop G are highly skilled Troopers who have received specialized training to conduct roadside inspections of commercial motor vehicles. It was discovered that the vehicle was not over weight, however the load was not evenly distributed. It is believed that this contributed to the vehicle rolling over as it entered the curve.

The New Hampshire State Police was assisted on the scene by the Manchester Police Department, Manchester Fire Department, Hooksett Fire Department, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. The vehicle was removed from the scene by Duval's Towing.

The collision remains under investigation by Lt. Andrew Player. Anyone with information pertaining to this crash is asked to contact L.t Player, New Hampshire State Police Troop G, at Andrew.Player@dos.nh.gov or 603-223-8778.
