Combined Accident Reduction Effort – Labor Day Weekend Traffic Enforcement

State Police Director Christopher Wagner announces the enforcement efforts of New Hampshire State Troopers during the recent C.A.R.E time period beginning Friday August 31, 2018 through Monday September 3, 2018.

The State Police are pleased to announce that there were no fatal motor vehicle crashes during this time period. We want to thank all those who traveled safely and courteously during the past week.

State Troopers maintained a highly visible presence throughout the State to assure safe holiday travel. Those efforts included making a total of 4,550 vehicle stops resulting in: 1,222 citations for speeding, 2,679 warnings, and 33 citations for Driving after Suspension. Additionally, 101 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.

Troopers cited 114 drivers for, "Use of Mobile Electronic Devices While Driving." Troopers also cited 17 drivers for the "Move Over Law". We want to remind drivers of the importance of slowing down and moving to the left when approaching emergency and / or disabled vehicles on the roadways.

Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned statewide to detect and apprehend impaired drivers. As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 23 DUI arrests made.

Several impaired operators were identified and apprehended as a result of phone calls by responsible citizens reporting unsafe and erratic operation. The men and women of the State Police appreciate the public's assistance in helping to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce traffic collisions during the upcoming fall months.
