Combined Accident Reduction Effort – July 4th Holiday Traffic Enforcement

State Police Director Christopher Wagner announces the enforcement efforts of New Hampshire State Troopers during the recent C.A.R.E time period beginning Tuesday July 3, 2018 through Sunday July 8, 2018.

The State Police are pleased to announce that there were no fatal motor vehicle crashes during this time period. We want to thank all those who traveled safely and courteously during the past week.

State Troopers maintained a highly visible presence throughout the State to assure safe holiday travel. Those efforts included making a total of 5,232 vehicle stops resulting in: 1301 citations for speeding, 3,212 warnings, and 45 citations for Driving after Suspension. Additionally, 109 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.

Troopers cited 123 drivers for, "Use of Mobile Electronic Devices While Driving." Troopers also cited 6 drivers for the "Move Over Law". We want to remind drivers of the importance of slowing down and moving to the left when approaching emergency and / or disabled vehicles on the roadways.

Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned statewide to detect and apprehend impaired drivers. As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 41 DUI arrests made.

Several impaired operators were identified and apprehended as a result of phone calls by responsible citizens reporting unsafe and erratic operation. The men and women of the State Police appreciate the public's assistance in helping to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce traffic collisions during the upcoming summer months.
