On 7/6/2018 The New Hampshire State Police received numerous phone calls about an ATV traveling on I-393 WB onto I-93 NB. Reports were that the operator of the ATV was driving erratically. After numerous complaints, a State Trooper from Troop E in Tamworth finally caught up with the ATV on I-93 in the area of exit 20 in Tilton. The ATV was followed for a short distance by the Trooper but the ATV would not stop and continued north. The New Hampshire State Police did not pursue the vehicle and made notifications to other police agencies knowing the vehicle would be running out of fuel over the next few miles. Shortly thereafter, State Troopers from the Troop D barracks in Concord found the ATV on I-93 at exit 23 in the Town of New Hampton, as the vehicle did run out of fuel.

1 male subject was taken into custody by Troopers and identified as Derek C. Meyer, age 19 of Northwood, NH. It was later found that the Epsom and Northwood Police Departments were in pursuit of the ATV prior to it entering the Interstate system. Meyer was charged with Aggravated DWI, Reckless Operation, and Disobeying a Police Officer. Meyer was bailed on $10,000 PR bail and was given a Laconia District Court date of 7/19/2018. Other local charges pending.
