Reckless Driving Arrest, I-93, Salem

At approximately 0655 hours on July 4, 2018 Trooper Scott Garton, of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from the State Police aircraft on I-93 northbound in the Town of Salem. Trooper Garton observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and clocked it at 109 MPH in the posted 65 MPH speed zone. Trooper Garton radioed to Troopers on the ground. The vehicle a 2005 BMW 3 Series passed by the ground trooper's location. It was subsequently stopped on I-93 northbound several miles north on Interstate 93 in the Town of Derry. The Subject was identified as Yefri Garcia-Medina, Age 21, Nashua, NH.

Sgt. Christopher Storm made contact with Garcia-Medina, who stated he was late going to a lake for a fourth of July celebration. Sgt. Storm charged Garcia-Medina with Reckless Driving. Garcia-Medina is due to appear in the Salem Circuit Court to answer to this charge on August 23, 2018 at 0800.

In addition to the reckless operation charge, the members of NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit issued 110 summons and warnings during this aircraft detail.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire's roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
