Motor Vehicle Collision, Franconia Notch Parkway

On Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at around 8:27a.m., New Hampshire State Police-Troop F received the report of a motor vehicle collision on Interstate 93 Southbound in the Franconia Notch Parkway in the area of Exit 34A. Responding personnel located a 2014 International tractor-trailer truck that was hauling milk had struck the guard rail damaging the truck's fuel tanks and causing several 100 gallons of fuel to spill upon the roadway and surrounding area. The operator of the truck was identified as Scott Carpenter, Age: 48, Derby, Vermont.

Carpenter was not injured in the collision. The on-scene investigation revealed that Carpenter may have been momentarily distracted at the time of the collision. Carpenter was cited for Negligent Driving contrary to RSA 265:79-b. The investigation is on-going at this time. Assisting on scene were members of the New Hampshire State Police-Troop F, New Hampshire State Police-Troop G, Lincoln Police Department, Lincoln Fire Department, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services as well as the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

The collision caused traffic problems in both directions for several hours in the area however resumed to normal at around 2:45p.m.
