Combined Accident Reduction Effort – Memorial Day Weekend Traffic Enforcement

State Police Director Christopher Wagner announces the enforcement efforts of New Hampshire State Troopers during the recent C.A.R.E Weekend beginning Friday, May 25, 2018 through Monday, May 28, 2018.

The State Police are pleased to announce that there were no fatal motor vehicle crashes during this time period. We want to thank all those who traveled safely and courteously during the holiday weekend.

State Troopers maintained a highly visible presence throughout the State to assure safe holiday travel.  Those efforts included making a total of 4,654 vehicle stops resulting in:  908 citations for speeding, 2,978 warnings, and 71 citations for Driving after Suspension.   Additionally, 89 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.

Troopers also cited 120 drivers for, "Use of Mobile Electronic Devices While Driving."  We would like to highlight that drivers were found to be largely compliant with the distracted driving law.

Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned statewide to detect and apprehend impaired drivers. As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 23 DUI arrests made.

Several impaired operators were identified and apprehended as a result of phone calls by responsible citizens reporting unsafe and erratic operation. The men and women of the State Police appreciate the public's assistance in helping to remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

The New Hampshire State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and will continue our efforts to reduce traffic collisions during the upcoming summer months.
