New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers Memorial

Concord – On Friday, May 18, 2018, the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers Memorial will be held at the site of the Police Memorial at 9:45 AM. The New Hampshire Police Memorial is located on State Street on the grounds of the Legislative Office Building, behind the State House in Concord. All sworn and civilian members of law enforcement, department of corrections, the legislature, the public and media are invited to attend. The program will last approximately one hour. In case of rain, the ceremony will be held inside the State House in Representatives Hall.

Speakers will include his Excellency Governor Christopher Sununu. Attorney General Gordon McDonald will be reading the Roll of Honor, recognizing the names of New Hampshire's 49 fallen police officers.

This year, the names of 360 officers killed in the line of duty are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These 360 officers include 134 officers who were killed during 2017, plus those officers who died in previous years but whose stories of sacrifice had been lost to history until now.

This year one name was added to the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial, Assistant Marshal John McDonough of the Dover Police Department.

On June 14, 1923, Assistant Marshal John McDonough of the Dover Police Department was conducting an interview attempting to locate a juvenile boy when he complained of a headache, began sweating profusely and collapsed in the doorway of the woman he was interviewing, apparently succumbing to a heart attack.

The New Hampshire Police Association Pipes and Drums will perform at the ceremony, along with the nationally acclaimed Londonderry High School Marching Lancers who will also perform several musical selections. Guest performer Olivia Tsetsilas will sing the National Anthem, God Bless America and the closing hymn.

The event is being sponsored by the New Hampshire Troopers Association, the New Hampshire Police Association, the Police Chief's Association of New Hampshire, the New Hampshire Sheriff's Association, the Hundred Club of New Hampshire, the City of Concord and the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Committee.

The New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial Committee is still seeking donations for the perpetual care fund and donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.

To make a donation, please make checks payable to the New Hampshire Law Enforcement Memorial Association and mail to:
