Motor Vehicle Accident, Interstate 93, Exit 9

On 04/03/18 at approximately 08:50 A.M. Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop B Barracks in Bedford and personnel from the Hooksett Fire Department, responded to a motor vehicle accident on I -93 south in the vicinity of exit 9 in Hooksett New Hampshire.

On arrival, they found that a 2016 Ford Interceptor-Bow Police Department Cruiser, operated by Canine Police Officer Matthew Pratte, had been operating in the right hand travel lane and slowed for heavy traffic on the interstate. When Officer Pratte slowed down he was rear ended by 30 year old Jerry Turner from Loudon New Hampshire, pushing the cruiser off the right side of the roadway.

No injuries were reported at the time of the crash to either operator. Turner was cited at the scene for following to close and both vehicles had to be towed due to disabling damage. Officer Pratte's Canine Partner Roxy was transported to Caves Animal Hospital in Concord New Hampshire for minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

The State Police would like to remind motorists to not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, having due regard for the speed and traffic on the roadways.
