Pursuit & Subsequent Arrest, Interstate 93

At approximately 2330 hours on March 28, 2018 Troopers from Troop-B assisted Salem Police with a pursuit. The pursuit entered Interstate 93 northbound from Exit # 3. A Trooper in the immediate area attempted to stop the vehicle, identified as a 2017 Dodge U-Haul Van with a Massachusetts Registration plate, to no avail. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop and traveled at speeds varying between 50 and 90 mph in an erratic and aggressive manner, as he traveled northbound on Interstate 93, Interstate 293 and eventual back onto Interstate 93 southbound.

As the vehicle attempted to merge back on to Interstate 293 northbound from Interstate 93 southbound the vehicle ran out of gas. The vehicle came to rest on the ramp where NH Troopers and Salem Officers were able to contain the vehicle and its operator. After a short period of time, the suspect was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Valley Street Jail in Manchester. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Edward Alexander, Age 52, from Newark, New Jersey.

Alexander is charged with Felony – Reckless Conduct, 2 counts of Disobeying a Police Officer and Aggravated DWI. Alexander is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in the Manchester Superior Court.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is requested to contact Trooper E. Francois at 603-223-4381. There is no further information to release at this time.
