Commercial Motor Vehicle Crash, Interstate 95, North Hampton

On Tuesday January 24, 2018, at approximately 12:24 a.m., Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police Troop-A responded to a report of a jackknifed tandem tractor trailer unit on Interstate 95 in the Town of North Hampton. Initial on-scene investigation revealed that a 2016 Freightliner with tandem FedEx trailers in tow being driven by Timothy Steinbrink, age 34 of Turner, Maine, was traveling northbound when Steinbrink lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle rotated approximately 180-degrees so that it was now facing south and traveled into the center median causing its rear trailer to overturn and extend into the southbound travel way. No injuries were report as a result of this collision. The causation of the crash is still under investigation; however speed for the existing road condition appears to be a contributing factor. A portion of Interstate 95 southbound was closed for approximately 5 hours while the vehicle and trailers were recovered.

The New Hampshire State Police were assisted at the scene by members of NH Department of Transportation, and the North Hampton Fire Department.

Anyone with information pertaining to this crash is asked to contact Trooper John Forbes New Hampshire State Police, Troop-A Barracks at (603)679-3333.
