Wrong Way Driver, I-93 Southbound, Canterbury

On December 3, 2017 at approximately 0248 hours, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police, Troop D Barracks, responded to a report of a wrong way driver on Interstate 93 in the area of Mile Marker 46. Witnesses stated the suspect was traveling northbound in the southbound lane.

Sergeant Daniel W. Baldassarre, Trooper Micah Jones and Trooper Christopher Martineau encountered the wrong way driver southbound near Mile Marker 48.2, just north of Exit 18. The vehicle had become disabled in the high speed lane, due to a prior collision.

The driver was identified as Thomas Devareene, age 27, Manchester, NH. He was operating a 2012 Gray, Honda Civic. Thomas Devareene was taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Operation and Open Container. The results of his breath test indicated he was twice the legal limit.

He was released on personal recognizance bail and pending a court arraignment in the Concord District Court on December 22, 2017.
