On Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at approximately 1:55 p.m., the Lyndeborough Police Department was notified of a serious motor vehicle collision on Route 31 in the area of 47 Route 31 in Lyndeborough. Lyndeborough Police along with Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and found two vehicles involved in the middle of Route 31. Due to the seriousness of the crash they requested the assistance of the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit. One of the vehicles involved was identified as a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse all-wheel drive operated by Rebecca Rodenhiser, age 38, of Peterborough, New Hampshire. She sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to Catholic Medical Center in Manchester. She was eventually arrested at the hospital and charged with felony aggravated driving while under the influence. The other vehicle involved was identified as a 2005 Volvo S40 sedan and was operated by Joanne VanDeusen, age 67, of Greenfield, New Hampshire. She also sustained serious injuries in the collision and was transported to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. There was also a passenger in the Volvo. He was identified as Abou Sylla, age 59 also of Greenfield, New Hampshire. He sustained life threatening injuries in the collision and was transported to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts by Med-Flight.

Based upon the initial on-scene investigation, it appears that the Chevrolet Traverse was traveling northbound on Route 31. At the same time the Volvo S40 was traveling southbound on Route 31. In the area of 47 Route 31 the Chevrolet Traverse crossed over into the southbound lane and struck the Volvo S40 in a head on fashion crash.

At the request of the initial responding units, the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit was assisted on scene by members of the NH State Police-Troop B Barracks in Bedford, members of the Lyndeborough Police Department and the Lyndeborough Fire and Rescue Department. Due to the collision, Route 31 in this area was closed for approximately 4 hours.

At this time it appears that alcohol is a factor in this crash, however all aspects remain under investigation. Anyone that may have further information related to this collision, or who witnessed this collsion, are encouraged to contact Trooper Daniel Quartulli at 603-223-8993 or by email at
