Serious Motor Vehicle Crash, Route 16 Dover

On Thursday October 19, 2017, at approximately 1:20 pm, a serious motor vehicle crash occurred on NH Route 16 Southbound in the City of Dover, NH. The crash involved one vehicle, a 2000 BMW Motorcycle, operated by Donald Pelletier, age 59 of Dover, NH. Initial investigation appears to show that the BMW Motorcycle was traveling southbound on Route 16 and lost control as it entered a sweeping right hand curve in the area of Exit 9. The BMW Motorcycle hit the guardrail on the left side of the roadway and went down on its side. The operator was subsequently ejected from motorcycle before coming to final rest. It was reported that the BMW Motorcycle was traveling southbound with a black Cadillac operated by a male driver and a silver Mercedes operated by a female with blonde hair. The State Police are in the process of identifying these vehicles and would like to speak to the operators of both vehicles.

The operator of the Motorcycle sustained serious, life threatening injuries and was transport via ground ambulance to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover then later transferred to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston Massachusetts via Med-Flight.

At the request of the initial responding units, the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene. At this time the collision remains under investigation. It does not appear that impairment was a factor in the collision, however all aspects are still under investigation, including speed and/or distraction. As a result of the collision Route 16 southbound in the area of Exit 9 was closed for approximately 3 hours while the investigation took place. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit was assisted on scene by members of New Hampshire State Police Troop A, the Dover Police Department and the Dover Fire and Rescue Department.
