On October 13, 2017 at approximately 10:21 am a trooper happened upon a crash that had just occurred on Clinton Street at the intersection with the ramp onto Route 89 southbound. The trooper checked for injuries and found that both operators had sustained injury. The drivers were identified as: Charles Varn, age 68, Manchester, New Hampshire and:Susan Purcell, Age 66, Bow, New Hampshire.

Each operator was transported by ambulance to the Concord Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation revealed that prior to the crash Varn, who had been driving a Toyota, was traveling outbound on Clinton Street. Purcell, who had been driving a Jeep, was traveling inbound on Clinton Street. Varn, while turning left onto the ramp for Route 89 southbound, turned directly into the path of Purcell thus causing the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
