On Sunday, October 8, 2017, at approximately 9:26 a.m. (0926 hours) the NH State Police Troop A barracks was notified and responded to a multiple motor vehicle crash located on Interstate 95 (southbound) in the area of mile marker 8.8 in the Town of North Hampton, New Hampshire.

Upon arrival, the at-scene investigation revealed a black 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 operated by Michael Ricci, age 18 of Burlington, Massachusetts was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 and according to witnesses at the scene was racing other vehicles. The black 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 then abruptly traversed through the restricted access crossover at mile marker 8.8 into oncoming southbound traffic colliding with a red 2003 Harley Davidson operated by Louis Remigio, age 55 of Tewksbury, Massachusetts. As a result of this, a grey 2009 Subaru Legacy operated by John Bamford, age 63 of Wells, Maine could not stop in time and rear-ended the black 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300.

While attempting to avoid the collision a red 2015 Ford Explorer operated by Jay Coombs, age 50 of South Portland, Maine, and a black 2016 Ford F-150 operated by Scott Chertoff, age 30 of Flemington, New Jersey both sustained damage to their vehicles while driving through several pieces of debris at the collision scene.

As a result of this collision, the operator of the red 2003 Harley Davidson suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital for care. The operator of the 2009 Subaru Legacy and passenger, Jaclyn Bamford, age 61 of Wells, Maine were also transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The operator of the black 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 operated by Michael Ricci did not suffer any injuries and was subsequently arrested for felony Reckless Conduct where he is currently being held on $10,000.00 cash at the Rockingham County Jail awaiting arraignment on Tuesday morning at the Seabrook Circuit Court, District Division.

Assisting on scene were members of the NH State Police Troop A Barracks, North Hampton Fire & Rescue, EMS Crews, and NH DOT.

At this time the crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit). Anyone that may have further information related to this collision is encouraged to please contact Trooper First Class Greg Dube at (603) 223-8490 or by email at
