Combined Collision Reduction Effort – Labor Day Weekend Traffic Enforcement

State Police Director Christopher Wagner announces the enforcement efforts of State Troopers during the recent C.A.R.E Life Saver Weekend beginning Friday, September 1, 2017 through Monday, September 4, 2017.

State Troopers maintained a highly visible presence throughout the state to provide for safe holiday travel and subsequent enforcement efforts resulted in 4,181 vehicle stops, which included the following: 1,054 citations for speeding, 2,423 warnings, and 39 citations for Driving after Suspension. Additionally, 65 other criminal arrests were made during this time period.

Troopers also cited 75 drivers for, "Use of Mobile Electronic Devices While Driving"; however, it should be noted that drivers were found to be largely compliant with the distracted driving law.

Highly trained State Troopers were also assigned statewide to detect and apprehend impaired drivers. As a result of their enforcement efforts there were a total of 15 DUI arrests made. Unfortunately, 56 motor vehicle collisions were investigated, to include one fatal collision.

The State Police are committed to ensuring safe travel throughout the state and we would like to recognize and thank all of those operators who drove with care over the holiday weekend. Additionally, we encourage members of the motoring public to contact our agency at (603)271-3636 to report any unsafe vehicle operation that they may observe and we value the assistance that is routinely provided by the public in identifying impaired drivers.
