New Hampshire and Vermont Joint Traffic Enforcement Operation, Interstate 89 & 91

During the afternoon hours of September 1st, New Hampshire State Police and Vermont State Police started the holiday weekend by conducting a joint traffic enforcement operation focusing on Interstate 89 and Interstate 91 in both states. The operation consisted of directed traffic patrols by both agencies and truck enforcement by Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.

The operation resulted in the following enforcement action:

New Hampshire State Police

The New Hampshire State Police conducted 125 motor vehicle stops resulting in the following enforcement action:

  • Tickets for Speed: 72
  • Tickets for Move Over Law: 1
  • Tickets for Unlawful Passing: 1
  • Warnings for Speed: 47
  • Electronic Handheld Device Violations: 1
  • Motorist Assists: 6
  • Hazardous Operation in Excess of 90 MPH: 4

Vermont State Police

The Vermont State Police conducted 43 motor vehicle stops resulting in the following enforcement action:

  • 28 Tickets issued for speed violations
  • 7 Tickets issued for use of handheld electronic devices
  • 8 Written warnings
  • Hazardous Operation in Excess of 90 MPH: 1

Both agencies will continue to increase patrols, to include sobriety checkpoints throughout the Labor Day weekend in effort to make Vermont and New Hampshire's highways safer for all. The ultimate goal of these enforcement efforts is to ensure safety and crash reduction.
