Boating Accident Involving Personal Injury, South of Sleepers and Treasure Island, Lake Winnipesaukee, Alton

At 6:35 PM on Tuesday, August 8th, the New Hampshire State Police - Marine Patrol received a call of a boating accident on Lake Winnipesaukee in the town of Alton. A vessel had struck a tube being towed by another boat. At the time of the incident, the boat towing the tube was making a turn when the striking vessel, an approximately 21-foot-long white boat with two males on board, made contact with the tube, ejecting the two teenagers who were riding on it. As a result, one of the victims was transported to Huggins Hospital.

The striking vessel reportedly came from the direction of Minge Cove in Alton prior to the collision and proceeded northerly toward Rattlesnake Island after the incident. The boat was described as white with blue or grey lettering. Anyone with information regarding this boat or its operator is asked to contact the NH State Police – Marine Patrol at (603) 293-2037.
