Motor Vehicle Fatality, Route 16, Milton

On Sunday, July 30, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m. the Milton Police Department attempted to effect an arrest of a subject in the Town of Milton for several outstanding felony warrants. Prior to being taking into custody the subject became aware of the Police presence and fled the area in a 2016 Chrysler 200, a stolen vehicle. Milton Police attempted to stop the vehicle in the Town of Milton. The vehicle failed to stop and continued onto Route 16 southbound at a high rate of speed. In the area between Exit 17 and 18 the operator lost control of the vehicle, slid across Route 16, left the roadway, rolled over and caught on fire.

The operator suffered life threatening injuries and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. He was pronounced deceased by Assistant Deputy Medical Examiner Will Bartels. There were no other occupants in this vehice and there were no other vehicles involved in this event. The operator of this vehicle was eventually identified as Sean York, age 28 of Rochester, New Hampshire. The crash investigation is being handled by the State Police Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit (C.A.R. Unit) with assistance NH State Police Troop A.

Assisting on scene were members of the Milton Police Department, NH State Police Troop A Barracks, NH Fire Marshal's Office, Milton Fire & Rescue & EMS, and New Hampshire Department of Transportation. Route 16 north and southbound was closed for several hours while this crash was investigated.
