Troop F Memorial Run, Colebrook to Twin Mountain

On Friday, August 18, 2017, Troopers from the New Hampshire State Police-Troop F barracks will be joined by their brothers and sisters in blue from throughout New Hampshire and Vermont to pay tribute to their fallen comrades as we approach the somber twentieth anniversary of the "Colebrook tragedy".

On August 19, 1997 Troopers Les Lord and Scott Phillips lost their lives in a tragedy that shook the North Country. Twenty years later, law enforcement will gather to pay tribute to Lord and Phillips as well as all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Starting at 4:00p.m. on Friday, August 18, 2017, runners, to include Law Enforcement from New Hampshire and surrounding areas will gather at LaPerle's IGA located at Route 3 in Colebrook, New Hampshire for a prayer and short remembrance ceremony and the laying of a memorial wreath. At 5:00p.m., runners will begin the 55 mile "relay to remember" in their honor, running from LaPerle's IGA in Colebrook, New Hampshire to the Troop F Barracks in Twin Mountain, New Hampshire.

Traveling overnight, runners will take turns flooding the route to bring the memories of their fallen brothers from the North Country back to their barracks. Travel assistance for relay runners has been generously donated by W.W. Berry's Transportation, Incorporated of Lancaster, New Hampshire to ensure the comfort and safety of all runners. Participants are due to arrive back at the Troop F Barracks in time for the annual flag-raising ceremony to be held at 7:00am on August 19, 2017 which annually honors all fallen members of The New Hampshire State Police who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

Since this tragedy not only affected our law enforcement community, but also the close-knit community of the Great North Woods, Troop F is honored to request the public's presence at the start line to join in the remembrance ceremony. We welcome you to show your support at that location as well as along the relay route, which will follow Route 3 to Route 302 in Twin Mountain and/or the flag-raising ceremony which is open to the public.

Public parking will be made available courtesy of LaPerle's IGA. Please join us in honoring the memory of not only Troopers Lord and Phillips but all law enforcement from the North Country who have lost their lives while protecting and serving the great citizens of our beautiful state. Never forget.
