Reckless Driving Arrest, Greenland

At approximately 0835 hours on July 2, 2017, Sgt. Christopher Storm, of the New Hampshire State Police Special Enforcement Unit was monitoring traffic from the State Police aircraft on I-95 southbound in the Town of Greenland. Sgt. Storm observed a vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed and clocked it at 111 MPH in the posted 65MPH speed zone. Sgt. Storm radioed to Troopers on the ground. The vehicle a 2017 Ford Fusion passed by the ground trooper’s location. It was subsequently stopped on I-95. The Subject was identified as Marcee R. Smith, age 56, New York , NY.

TFC John LaPointe made contact with Smith. When asked why she was traveling at that speed. Smith stated that she did not realize that she was going that fast. TFC LaPointe charged her with Reckless Operation. Smith is due to appear in the Portsmouth Circuit Court to answer to this charge on August 14, 2017 at 0800.

The NH State Police Special Enforcement Unit regularly interdicts elevated speed violations and other aggressive driving behaviors. Its members patrol across the state often utilizing the State Police aircraft during commuter traffic periods and holiday travel times with the goal of keeping New Hampshire's roadways safe for all residents and visitors.
